Portman Community Class for Women

Life Element has teamed up with the Portman Centre to enable mothers of NW8 and the surroundings to take time from taking care of others and focus on taking care of themselves.

Many people have heard of the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life but some have gotten used to seeing it as inaccessible. One of the things Yoga teaches us is the importance of taking time (even a few minutes a day) to stop and tune in to ourselves. By doing so we are able to identify our true strengths and needs and live a fuller life through acting rather than reacting. Many women who are mothers and householders are so busy taking care of others that they forget, or do not feel able to dedicate such time to strengthening their own self.

By teaming with the friendly and professional services of the Portman Centre we were able to provide a comfortable and local space as well as crèche facilities for the younger children, thus eliminating some of the barriers preventing local mothers from practicing regularly.

This class, taught by Perla, is by donation only of as little £ 1.00 to enable women of all income levels to participate. The time is 13:00-14:30 on Tuesdays , when children are in school and mothers can take worry –free time to strengthen their mind body and soul.
